24 Units of Perkins Silent Generator Sets Shipped in Bulk to Chad to Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply for Rural Communication Base Stations Across Africa

Recently, a domestic generator manufacturer completed factory inspection and container loading of a batch of 24 silent Perkins diesel generator sets. All equipment will be shipped by sea to Chad in Africa for the national rural communication base station expansion project, solving frequent network outages caused by unstable power grids in remote villages and towns.

This order covers four mainstream power ratings: 20kVA, 30kVA, 50kVA and 80kVA, all equipped with classic Perkins power-dedicated engines including the 403D,  404D 404D-22TGand 1103 series. They are well suited for field construction environments such as mountainous areas and tropical savannas with high temperatures and heavy dust. All units are fitted with integrated silent and rainproof cabinets and Deep Sea automatic control panels. Featuring automatic startup upon mains power failure, automatic shutdown when mains power resumes, low oil pressure and overheat protection, they support unattended continuous operation for 7 days and can be put into service right after installation.

Personnel in charge of Chad’s local telecom operator stated that basic power grid coverage is insufficient in most rural areas of the country, resulting in regular power cuts. Conventional small generator sets suffer high failure rates and hard-to-source spare parts. After comparisons among multiple brands, Perkins-powered generator sets were selected for three core merits:

1.The engines run smoothly on low-quality diesel widely available locally with minimal injector clogging risks;

2.Spare parts warehouses have been established in multiple West African countries for rapid after-sales response;

Apart from the Chad project, the same manufacturer previously delivered dozens of 22kVA Perkins 404D series units to Senegal’s leading telecom enterprise to serve mobile signal towers nationwide. The technical team of Perkins Asia-Pacific carried out targeted optimizations for African communication scenarios, including enhanced high-temperature cooling systems and dust-proof air filter structures to extend service intervals for unattended remote base stations.

Industry insiders said that digital infrastructure in Africa keeps accelerating, driving steady growth in demand for backup power supplies for communication facilities. Thanks to reliable performance and a comprehensive global service network, Perkins mid-and-small power generation engines have long maintained a dominant share in generator sets supporting African base stations. In the first half of 2026 alone, orders of Perkins-powered base station generators exported from domestic manufacturers to Africa rose by over 35% year-on-year.
