Perkins Expands Global Genset Aftermarket & Spare Parts Network for Africa and South Asia

Stafford, UK, 12 April 2026. Perkins has announced a major expansion of its spare parts warehouse and service network for electric power business. The upgrade focuses on Africa, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Tanzania and Mozambique, strengthening local stock, technical training and on-site emergency repair support for mining sites, sugar mills, industrial parks, off-grid prime power and standby gensets, delivering full-lifecycle service for Perkins-powered diesel generator sets.

Driven by infrastructure growth across South Asia and Africa, a large number of Perkins-powered gensets are now in operation. Many sites are in remote areas, facing poor transport, limited local technicians and long lead times for spare parts. Unexpected genset breakdowns can halt production for factories and mines relying on gensets as the main power source. Perkins’ network upgrade directly addresses these common customer pain points to reduce downtime risk.

Key measures include new regional spare parts hubs in Mombasa (Kenya) and Dhaka (Bangladesh). The warehouses stock filters, seals, injectors, overhaul kits, sensors and other consumables for popular engine families including 1100,1200,1500,2206 and 2506 2506C-E15TAG1 . Previously many items were shipped from the main warehouse in the UK, taking weeks by sea plus customs clearance. With local inventory, standard spare parts can be delivered within 3–7 days in-region; critical emergency parts can arrive on site in as fast as 48 hours.

Perkins also expands its certified engineer training programme. Permanent practical training centres are launched in Dhaka and Nairobi for agents and OEM technicians. Training covers engine troubleshooting, electronic calibration, overhaul and ISO8528 load testing. Qualified local certified engineers can carry out on-site diagnosis, routine maintenance and full engine overhaul, removing the high cost and long waiting time for overseas specialist engineers from Europe.

Perkins Global Service Director for Electric Power commented that genset buyers purchase more than hardware. Reliable spare parts and technical backup are critical, especially for off-grid and continuous-process plants where uptime outweighs upfront cost. Many Chinese exporters supply Perkins gensets to Africa and Bangladesh, and end customers are often worried about maintenance and spare parts availability after delivery. Local stock and trained service teams greatly improve competitiveness of Perkins-powered gensets in tender projects.

Alongside warehouses and training centres, Perkins upgraded its digital service portal. OEMs and asset owners can look up part numbers, download service manuals, operation guides and wiring diagrams, raise service tickets and read fault codes from electronic engines remotely. The mobile-friendly portal helps field crews access documentation on site, and supports Chinese genset exporters to provide technical documents to overseas clients after shipment.

Market observers note that the installed base of Perkins prime power gensets keeps rising in South Asia and Africa. Spare parts lead time and local service network have become key differentiators against competing engine brands. For Chinese genset exporters bidding projects in Bangladesh, Tanzania, Mozambique and Pakistan, Perkins local spare hub and certified service network can be used as a strong sales point in tender documents to boost customer confidence.
