From September 2 to 5, 2026, the Indonesia International Power & Energy Exhibition was held in Jakarta. Traktor Nusantara, the official authorized distributor of Perkins in Indonesia, displayed multiple Perkins-powered diesel generator sets at the show, highlighting the integrated power solution combining diesel gensets and battery energy storage, targeting industrial plants, mines, palm oil mills and remote island power stations across Indonesia.
Many outer islands in Indonesia suffer unstable grid power supply. Factories and mining sites cannot fully rely on public grid. Standalone diesel gensets have pain points such as heavy load fluctuation, frequent start-stop cycles and high fuel consumption. The integrated system showcased uses Perkins engines as prime mover, paired with lithium battery energy storage, grid-tied bidirectional converters and intelligent synchronizing panels. The battery smooths sudden load spikes and reduces frequent engine starting. In case of prolonged blackouts, the diesel genset starts as the main power source and charges the battery pack, enabling coordinated operation of diesel and storage.
The exhibited gensets cover prime power from 80kVA to 800kVA, including open-frame and silent versions. They are powered by Perkins 1104 1104A_44TG1, 1506 and 2506 series engines, all 50Hz and compliant with Indonesia’s 400V low-voltage standard. The engines support HVO renewable fuel to meet the tightening local emission regulations. For Indonesia’s hot and humid tropical climate, the gensets are equipped with tropical radiators, heavy-duty air filters and moisture-proof electrical cabinets to mitigate damage from humidity and dust.
As Perkins’ long-term authorized local partner, Traktor Nusantara provides local on-site installation, commissioning, annual inspection, spare parts stock and remote monitoring service. Customers can monitor engine temperature, oil pressure, load factor and running hours via Perkins digital platform for predictive maintenance and avoid unexpected shutdowns.
The booth attracted many EPC contractors, factory owners and mining buyers. Many visitors commented that the diesel-storage hybrid solution cuts fuel consumption and improves voltage stability compared with pure diesel gensets, ideal for off-grid and weak-grid sites in Indonesia. Perkins Southeast Asia Regional Manager mentioned that this integrated solution has been piloted at several palm oil mills in East Kalimantan and Sulawesi. It will be further promoted to other Southeast Asian island nations including Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.
Perkins keeps expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia power market. Based on proven engine platforms, the brand is moving beyond pure diesel power supply. Together with local distributors, it delivers complete hybrid energy solutions to meet diverse prime and backup power demands of commercial and industrial clients.
