Perkins has officially unveiled the 2600 Series (2606) 13‑litre engine designed specifically for power generation for the global market, further completing its medium‑power diesel generator powertrain lineup. Mass production of the model will commence in the second half of 2026, targeting industrial prime and standby power applications.
Key Highlights
Product Specifications
The 2606 engine delivers a prime power range of 321–523kW and standby power from 365–572kW. It supports flexible switching between 50Hz and 60Hz, enabling a single unit to comply with grid standards across multiple countries and lowering OEM development costs for generator set manufacturers. The engine meets ISO G3 transient performance standards and offers outstanding response under sudden load application.2506D-E15TAG2
Design Advantages
Equipped with a high‑pressure common rail electronic fuel injection system, the new model is more compact and lighter than its predecessors, the 2206 and 2506 series, facilitating integration into sound‑attenuated enclosures and containerised generator sets. It can withstand ambient temperatures up to 60°C, suitable for mining sites, industrial parks, remote telecom base stations and other locations without auxiliary cooling facilities. Supported by more than one hundred patents, the design balances fuel economy, reliability and ease of maintenance.
Target Applications
The engine supports diesel generator sets ranging from 50kW to 650kW for commercial buildings, county‑level hospitals, edge data centres, temporary mining power, telecom towers and captive power plants for medium and small industrial parks. Volume deliveries will be made to regions with moderate emission requirements including Southeast Asia, Africa and Central Asia.
Industry Significance
The 2600 Series fills Perkins’ product gap in the 13‑litre medium‑to‑high power segment. It forms a complete power generation portfolio together with the low‑power 400/1100/2000 Series, mid‑range 2600 Series and high‑power 4000/5000 Series, strengthening Perkins’ competitiveness in the global medium‑power generator set market.
