Recently, the Indonesia International Power & Energy Exhibition was held in Jakarta. Authorized Perkins agents exhibited a variety of diesel generator sets at the event, highlighting an integrated power supply solution with diesel units paired with energy storage batteries. Targeting regions with weak power grids such as Indonesian islands, mines and palm oil mills, the solution delivers stable power for local industrial and infrastructure projects.
Many outer islands of Indonesia suffer from unstable municipal power supply, making factories and mining sites unable to fully rely on grid electricity. Traditional diesel generator sets consume more fuel and suffer faster equipment wear under conditions of heavy load fluctuation and frequent start-stop cycles. The integrated system displayed at the show adopts Perkins engines as the core power source, matched with lithium battery energy storage, bidirectional converters and intelligent parallel control cabinets. The energy storage system smooths instantaneous load surges and reduces frequent engine starts. During prolonged power outages, the diesel generator serves as the main power source to supply continuous electricity and recharge batteries, enabling coordinated operation of diesel engines and energy storage.
The exhibited units offer prime power ranging from 80 kVA to 800 kVA, including open-type and silent models powered by Perkins 11041104C-44TAG2, 1506 and 2506 series engines. Designed for the 50Hz power standard required by Southeast Asian export markets, these units feature excellent load acceptance and have been verified in numerous projects on remote mines and island power stations. Perkins engines have passed tens of thousands of hours of durability testing, with a mature spare parts supply chain and local overseas after-sales networks to cut customers’ long-term maintenance costs.
As a global power brand, Perkins continues to deepen its presence in emerging power markets across Southeast Asia and Africa, launching compliant generator variants to meet emission regulations in different territories. Beyond conventional diesel power, the brand is also developing multi-fuel technologies and exploring hybrid and hydrogen power units to align with global low-carbon trends.
Numerous local contractors, mining enterprises and OEM manufacturers visited the booth for business discussions during the exhibition. Overseas customers have shown growing recognition of the combined diesel and energy storage power supply model. This solution guarantees uninterrupted power supply while effectively reducing fuel consumption and improving project economy. With a full range of power ratings, reliable performance and a global spare parts and service network, Perkins generator sets maintain a solid position in the overseas standby power market and support regional infrastructure development.
