Perkins China Signs Three-Year Supply Framework Agreement with China Towers for National Stage IV Generator Sets

Core News Content

With the full implementation of China’s National Stage IV emission standards for non-road mobile machinery, Perkins electronically controlled engines of the 1104D and 2006 series, designed for medium and small diesel generator sets, have obtained full-model National Stage IV environmental certifications. Starlight Power’s Changzhou manufacturing base, an authorized domestic OEM partner, has launched mass production of matching open-type and silent diesel generator sets ranging from 50kW to 300kW. These products target backup power supply scenarios including communication base stations, commercial buildings and small construction sites.

Meanwhile, Perkins officially signed a 2026–2028 three-year strategic procurement framework agreement with China Towers. The contract stipulates a minimum delivery volume of 48,000 small generator sets powered by Perkins engines within three years, with the first batch of 16,000 units to be delivered in 2026 for emergency backup power at nationwide 5G-A base stations and edge computer rooms.

Core Advantages of Engine-powered Generator Sets

1.Compliant Emissions: Models 1104D-E44TG2 and 2006-E85TAG3A adopt lightweight aftertreatment systems to fully meet China’s National Stage IV standards without complicated additional fittings. The engines also support 100% renewable HVO vegetable oil fuel.

2.Stable Power Output: The units reach ISO 8528 G3 power supply grade with fast load response, ideal for precision communication loads, and voltage fluctuation is controlled within ±2%.

3.Intelligent Operation & Maintenance: All units are equipped with the Perkins SmartGen 3.0 electronic control module, supporting remote monitoring, fault pre-warning and over-the-air (OTA) online upgrades to enable unattended operation for base station maintenance.

4.Wide Environmental Adaptability: Optional original kits for high temperature, high altitude and low-temperature environments allow stable operation in hot southern regions, high-altitude northwest plateaus and frigid northern areas.

Communication infrastructure is a core sector of China’s infrastructure stabilization strategy. The 11041104D-E44TG1 and 2006 medium & small power series feature compact size, easy maintenance and low fuel consumption, perfectly matching the distributed backup power demands of base stations. This large-scale mass production and long-term cooperation with China Towers mark Perkins’ continuously rising market share in domestic backup power for communication infrastructure.

Production Manager, Starlight Power

Adopting Perkins’ mature electronic control powertrain platform cuts the complete unit assembly cycle by 30%. Optimized silent generator sets achieve a noise level of 72dB at a 1-meter distance, meeting low-noise environmental requirements for urban base stations. The delivery cycle for bulk orders can be shortened to seven working days.

Market Plans

1.Scale up production of generator sets matched with 1104 and 2006 series throughout 2026, while exporting 50Hz units of the same emission standard to Southeast Asia and Africa.

2.Launch lightweight modular silent generator sets to provide one-stop power supply solutions for shopping malls, hospitals and small data centers.

3.Roll out exclusive maintenance packages for base stations via more than 30 authorized Perkins service outlets nationwide to shorten emergency repair response time.

Industry Significance

The mass launch of these products fills the supply gap of stable power sources for domestically manufactured compliant National Stage IV medium and small backup generator sets. Supported by Perkins’ proven powertrain system, the overall procurement and post-operation maintenance costs of backup power for communication infrastructure are greatly reduced, supporting stable power supply for China’s nationwide 5G networks.
